Though oral health and access to oral health have taken a turn for the better in recent years, it is still a huge, overlooked concern in the United States today. In fact, dental caries (cavities) remains the most common chronic disease among adolescents today. And while you may think that cavities aren’t a big deal, poor oral health has been linked to many other serious diseases including diabetes, heart disease, and pregnancy complications to name a few.
So in order to help shed some light on this serious but overlooked problem, Toothbrush.org’s mission is to raise awareness about the seriousness of oral health in dedication to the enhancement of oral health for everyone. A big part of that mission includes educating families through providing research and resources so that people can become more active about their oral health habits.
Below you’ll find resources we’ve created to help with our mission. Specifically, we want to increase awareness and education to communities that face the hardest challenges when it comes to oral health. These communities include the older adult population, children, low-income families, and those who live in Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSA).
These resources will be updated regularly and new research and resources will be added frequently. So take a look at what we have so far and come back frequently to see the new things we want to surface.
